– It got to a point, especially last autumn, when it became clear to everyone that we were struggling to recruit people for the central positions, says leader of the Porsgrunn and Surroundings Tourist Association, Lisbet Fines.
Last September, a group met to look at the way forward for POT. During the members’ meeting in January, they agreed to work towards becoming a member of the Telemark Tourist Association (DNT Telemark).
– We had an extraordinary meeting on 29 February, and there it was almost unanimous to apply for membership in DNT. During the annual meeting of DNT on 15 March, it was decided that we will become part of them from 1 January 2025 and we were welcomed, informs Fines.
She has been a member of POT since 2005, but has been leader for the past year, in addition to having been leader previously as well. She remains leader until the next annual meeting.

A somewhat special year
Until 1 January 2025, everything will remain as usual, but Fines makes no secret of the fact that it will be a special year.
– Everything goes as normal until January, in addition to some cooperation with the Children’s Travel Association. But, it will be a special year when we know it is our last year, she says.
POT was established on 11 June 1947.
Fines can still assure you that there will not be major differences, even if they are no longer independent.
– I cannot understand that it will be so much different than it is now. The only difference is that we will have a large support apparatus behind us. We want the same goals and the same purpose of getting people out. We have many members now who have a big heart for POT, and I hope that will continue. There is also room for more, concludes Fines.
