Dramatic scenes unfolded at the National Theater and Castle in central Oslo in the afternoon, when a man ran after several people – equipped with what must have been two knives.
The police received over 20 emergency calls from the scene while the incident unfolded, and the mission was first defined as PLIVO (ongoing life-threatening violence).
However, the knifeman was arrested after a short time, and the PLIVO message reversed.

Preliminary observation
As of Friday morning, the man has still not been questioned, police attorney Trine Elisabeth Selnes told Dagbladet.
– He will now undergo a preliminary investigation, and we will also try to question him today. We will then decide whether he should be imprisoned, she says.
– Is there reason to question his sanity?
– Without going into more detail about his health information, we believe that we have grounds to request a preliminary observation to clarify it.
Stab injuries in the arm
A person is said to have suffered stab wounds to an arm in connection with the incident on Wednesday afternoon, and was treated for minor injuries by an ambulance at the scene.
According to the police, the preliminary charge against the knifeman is serious threats and one case of bodily harm.
– It may well happen that the charge will be expanded as we get a clearer picture of the sequence of events, and whether there are more victims, says Selnes.
– Acute onset
The police do not believe that the incident must have been planned on the part of the accused.
– It appears to be an acute situation that arose then and there, says Selnes.
On Wednesday evening, Dagbladet spoke to Marius Aas Hast (25), who happened to be at the subway station at the Nationaltheatret together with his little brother and some friends, when the drama occurred.
He described the situation as very unpleasant.
– I got scared. He hit my little brother, and I wanted to protect him, Hast said.
