The police in Innlandet report on Tuesday afternoon that something has gone wrong in connection with a mission they have been out on Tuesday.

– This afternoon, in connection with confiscation of a weapon, the police fired a dangerous shot with this weapon, the police’s operations center informs.

This has happened at a private address in Gudbrandsdalen. The police are currently unable to provide any further information about why they have been at the address, or the background to why the threatening shot has been fired.

– No one was hit by the shot, reports the police.

The incident has been reported to the Bureau of Police Affairs.

– We cannot say anything about this matter. The Bureau must do that, says the head of operations in the police when the GD calls.

Notified 12.16

Prosecution investigation manager at the Bureau of Police Affairs, Thor Larsen, responds to GD briefly in an e-mail on Tuesday evening. He confirms that the Bureau has been notified of the incident.

– The special unit was around At 12.16 today, the Innlandet police district notified that an officer had fired a dangerous shot at a private address. The weapon that was fired was to be confiscated, writes Larsen to GD.

He further writes that the Bureau has asked the police to carry out an investigation of the crime scene and secure evidence, and then hand over the case to the Bureau for assessment.

– The weapon in question has been asked to be stored in a safe place until the Bureau has gained access to the case, writes Larsen.

Furthermore, he says that the Bureau cannot provide further details until the case has been received.

At the latest in 2023

According to the Bureau’s website, earlier this year there was one case where the police were reported for dangerous shooting. The case dealt with an episode in PST, where a service weapon was accidentally fired in a service car in connection with an assignment.

That case was dropped on the state of the evidence.

In July last year, the last time there was a case of dangerous shooting in the Innlandet police district was when an official fired a dangerous shot with a confiscated revolver inside his own office. No one was injured in the incident.
