– In southern Norway, the temperature will exceed 20 degrees, but the clouds will determine exactly how hot it will be, write the Meteorologists at X on Tuesday morning about the outlook for Wednesday, the first red May day on the calendar.

At KOK on Langkaia by the Opera in central Oslo on Tuesday afternoon, Nettavisen meets, among others, Alexis Belovsky from the USA who lives in Oslo.

– It’s so strange that it’s sunny! We have become so used to winter and that it is dark. But it’s absolutely fantastic, she says to Nettavisen.

On Tuesday afternoon at 3pm, it was 17 degrees in the center of Oslo.

It couldn’t have come at a better time, says Ida Wallem to Nettavisen.

In the same place, we also meet Peder Karterud, who also takes a dip in the harbor basin.

– It is absolutely beautiful! We were looking forward to the nice weather, he says.

Over the course of the week, warm air masses will move up from the south, which will cause high temperatures in southern Norway. The warm air masses also lead to warmer temperatures at night, as well as milder weather in the mountains.

Yr.no shows that the temperature in Oslo on Friday and Saturday can reach as high as 22 degrees. In Bergen, among other places, it is expected to be even warmer – 24 degrees was reported on Thursday.

In Kristiansand, it will probably be warmest on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with 18 degrees, while in Stavanger already on Wednesday 21 degrees have been reported.

Summer temperatures

In Western Norway, temperatures can reach 24 degrees, meteorologist on duty Charalampos Sarchosidis at the Meteorological Institute tells NTB on Tuesday.

Summer temperatures have been reported for the next few days all the way from Trøndelag and down along the coast to the Swedish border, and the weather will be best in the west.

Hot air from Greece

The weather forecast says that it will be at least 18 degrees and warmer along the coast in southern Norway until Saturday. It is still uncertain how Sunday will be.

– We can thank a high pressure in Ireland and a low pressure in Finland for the heat that is coming now. This means that warm air is coming from Greece to the north, says Sarchosidis to NTB.

Sun also in the north

The days are also sunny in the north. On Tuesday, Tromsø can get a sunshine record with the most number of hours of sunshine counted in April ever.

After the first weekend in May, however, slightly grayer weather is reported throughout. The meteorologist does not want to declare the winter over quite yet and recalls that it has snowed in May previously, NTB reports.

– But I can’t see any winter weather in the forecast for the future now, reassures Sarchosidis.

This is what the weather will be like on 17 May

On the 21-day forecast from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, you can also take a look ahead and check the forecasts for 17 May. For Bergen, there is a prospect of a maximum temperature of 14 degrees and a minimum temperature of 8 degrees this day. The precipitation forecast for National Day in Bergen indicates a 37 percent chance of precipitation (28 percent probability of a little and 9 percent probability of a lot). The 21-day notice comes with great uncertainty, especially for the last part of the period (now from 15 to 21 May). The 21-day forecast is updated every day.

For Oslo, the 21-day forecast shows 15/6 degrees (max/min) on National Day, Stavanger 7/13 and Trondheim 13/5 plus degrees.
