Figures from the power exchange Nord Pool show that a sunny day off in the middle of the week has its consequences for the power market.

Electricity prices are falling across the country.

On the continent, Germans receive a daily price of 5 øre/kWh. It won’t be that bad in this country, but in Southern and Eastern Norway the price will be more than halved from Tuesday to Wednesday.

This is how the spot prices in the Norwegian price areas will be tomorrow:

Price range: Tuesday Wednesday Change (%)
Oslo (NO1) 58 28 -52
Kristiansand (NO2) 58 28 -52
Trondheim (NO3) 53 33 -38
Tromsø (NO4) 53 33 -38
Bergen (NO5) 61 40 -34

Figures in øre/kWh. This excludes VAT, internet rental, electricity support and other fees.

Although the daily price remains well above the German level tomorrow, the price in Southern and Eastern Norway falls to close to zero in the middle of the day.

Between 14:00 and 15:00 the price in Oslo (NO1) and Kristiansand (NO2) is only 0.5 øre/kWh. The hour after, it increases to 0.8 øre/kWh.

However, the other three Norwegian price areas are nowhere near such a low price tomorrow. At its lowest, the price in Northern, Central and Western Norway is 19 øre/kWh.

Although it is NO1 and NO2 that will receive the country’s lowest electricity price tomorrow, it is also in these areas that you will find tomorrow’s highest electricity price.

In the first hour on Wednesday, NO1 and NO2 receive an hourly price of 56 øre/kWh.

The price collapses on the continent

In this country, as I said, we avoid minus prices on Wednesday, but elsewhere in Northern Europe, minus prices apply to certain hours during the day.

It is actually only Norway, northern and central Sweden and Finland that do not have any hours with a negative sign tomorrow.

Denmark and southern Sweden will have eight hours of reduced prices tomorrow – from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. At its lowest, the price is -3 øre/kWh in these areas.

It’s also just baby food compared to what the continent will have to go through tomorrow.

The Netherlands stands out with Northern Europe’s lowest hourly price tomorrow. For two hours – between 13:00 and 15:00, the Netherlands gets an hourly price of -200 Euro/MWh. This corresponds to -236 øre/kWh – which Dutch electricity customers are paid for using electricity during these hours.

During the same hours, the Germans receive an hourly price of -120 euros/MWh. Which corresponds to -142 øre/kWh.
