An unusual, and perhaps also unpleasant, smell may creep into Byskogen on Tuesday.
Larvik municipality reports this on its website.
The reason for the smell is that rehabilitation is to be carried out on the municipal sewage network in Heibergs gate, or more precisely the southern part of it.

Casts pipe in pipe
– For the rehabilitation work, the stocking renewal method is used, which means that a new pipe is cast inside the existing drainage line. The method is carried out from sump to sump and does not require digging, writes the municipality.
It is the material used in the sock renewal that is the source of the particular odor.
More specifically, it is residents in Heibergs gate and adjacent streets, such as Byskogstredet, Sverres gate and Håkons gate, who may experience the unusual smell – which may be noticeable both in and around the home while the works are in progress.
Good advice
The municipality therefore has some good advice for anyone who has an address in the area in question and who wants to avoid the smell entering the house:
- Make sure water traps/drains are filled with water.
- Ensure that skate hatches and any open drain pipes are sealed.
- Keep windows, valves and ventilation systems closed while the work is in progress.
