Fire in block of flats in Bergen – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

The fire service is working to put out a fire in a block of flats on Nattland in Bergen.

There is a fire in a flat and the fire has also gone through the roof.

At 00:01, the fire service reports on X/Twitter that they have control of the place.

14 residents from the block have been evacuated. Just before midnight, the police tell BA that no one is missing after the fire.

They do not know how many people live in the flat where the fire started.

At 01.30, the police write on X that they are terminating the place.

Smoke divers inside the building

Earlier on Monday, the police said smoke divers had been inside the building.

By then they had gone through all the flats, except where the fire started.

– Flats around have been cleared by the fire service and there are no people in there, says operations manager Johannessen.

Just after midnight, the police write in an update on X that no one has been found in the building.

Don’t know anything about the cause

At the moment, the police do not know what caused the fire.

– It is far too early to say anything about, says operations manager Dan Erik Johannessen.

The police previously said that there was a risk of spreading, and that a lot of wind in the area made extinguishing work difficult.

– The fire service has implemented life-saving efforts in case there are people inside, said duty commander Jostein Steinsland Hauge at the 110 central to NRK shortly after they had arrived at the site.

Received a message about a lot of smoke

– At 22.37 we received a report of heavy smoke. The fire brigade has arrived and they have started with external extinguishing, says duty commander Hauge.

The fire service moved out from Fana, Sandviken, Laksevåg and the main station.
