Defense Minister Lloyd Austin confirmed in Congress on Wednesday that a promised shipment of 3,500 bombs to Israel is being withheld.
According to the Pentagon, it concerns, among other things, 1,800 bombs of the Mk84 type. These weigh over 900 kilograms, leave 10-12 meter deep craters and scatter deadly shrapnel over 350 meters away.
On Wednesday, Biden threatened to withhold more arms shipments to Israel if the country makes good on its threat to send ground forces into Rafah, the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip. Over 1 million internally displaced Palestinians have sought refuge there.
Trump believes the threat of a halt in arms support is reprehensible.
