The employees at the company DVI in Måløy in Kinn municipality faced a rather pleasant pity when they came to work last week.

In the wheelhouse, all electronics were smashed, all cables were cut and a powder apparatus was emptied inside the boat. In addition, damage had been done to the engine compartment.

– Terribly devastating and despairing, says daily manager Fritjof Skaar.

Nothing is trusted. Large sums of damage have been done, but no one knows how big the sums.

Goes beyond work

What is certain is that it goes beyond the work of DVI, which does construction work on, among other things, quay facilities and other structures by the sea.

– The boat will be seen out of action for a long time, says Skaar.

“Getting the boat up and going again is not done in an instant,” he adds.

In the future, they will not be allowed to do work for which the boat was supposed to be used. Missions they have planned must now be postponed.

– It came completely out of the blue. It is despairing. I don’t know if there is much more to say about it than that.

The boat will be out of action for a long time. This means that the company has to postpone work.

The police have secured leads

The workboat was moored at Gotteberg in Måløy. The police were made aware of the damage on Monday and have carried out their investigations of the destroyed boat.

The case was first reported on Wednesday by Fjordenes Tidende.

– We have secured a number of tracks which we will investigate more closely, says task leader Morten Hagen.

The police describe the damage as serious. They do not know how much damage has been done.

DVI uses the boat for, among other things, construction work at the seaside. The picture was taken before the vandalism.

Asking the audience for help

The investigation will continue in the coming days. The police will not yet say anything about who is behind or what the motive for the vandalism is.

– There are various things that can lie behind a long-term injury. We have several hypotheses we are working on, says Hagen.

In addition, the police ask people to get in touch if they have made observations that could be of help.

– We are out in the local media and ask the public to get in touch if they have made observations that they think could be of use to us.

It is not yet clear how much damage has been done.
