Jeff Pu continues his Apple leaks. This time, completely new product groups are being revealed.
Folding Mac in 2026, folding iPhone in 2027
The analyst believes that Apple will completely overhaul the design of the iPhone series starting next year, and at the same time introduce a brand new “iPhone 17 Slim.” Mark Gurman has stated that Apple is actively working on a folding Mac with a large screen, and now Pu believes it is a 20.3″ one. The company will start mass producing the product late next year, sooner than what Ming-Chi Kuo has previously reported, i.e. that the launch will not take place until 2027. Pu believes that Apple plans to launch a folding iPhone late in 2026.
The analyst believes that he sees evidence among the supply partners that Apple has accelerated its development plans, and that the folding iPhone will become a completely new “ultra-premium” market for the company, which is looking at the possibility of 7.9″ and 8.3″ screen sizes.
Like 9To5Mac, there is always reason to be skeptical of such rumours, especially when the plans are supposedly advanced, but things are different this year: the company has given up on the car project and iPhone sales are somewhat weaker than expected, in addition to the Vision -series of AR products will take several years to find their way into the market. It is therefore less surprising than before that Apple might speed up a folding Mac, launch a brand new “iPhone 17 Slim” and that an iPhone that can be folded might arrive a year earlier.
