After 28 years with a car workshop at Linnegrøvan in Søgne, the owners and employees at Bilen Din are now preparing to meet new requirements for the repair and maintenance of electric cars.

– We want to be able to separate work on electric cars from work on cars with internal combustion engines, says co-owner and general manager of the company Alf Olav Skeivoll to N247.

The company has taken the consequences of this and in 2023 bought the neighboring property directly across the street from the current workshop.

The hall for electric cars is located just across the road from the company’s current premises.

– Only electric cars are allowed here. We believe that there will soon be stricter requirements for the industry with regard to safety and the risk of unwanted incidents when simultaneously working on petrol and diesel cars and electric cars under the same roof. That’s why we want to be early and now open one of the first workshops that is 100% dedicated to servicing electric cars, says Skeivoll.

Craftsmen have now finished remodeling and upgrading the building that will house the new workshop, and Skeivoll expects that the hall will be ready for use in just a few days.

– The lifting trestle, furnishings and necessary tools must now be in place, and the mechanics here are looking forward to starting work in our new workshop, says general manager Alf Olav Skeivoll.
