In a post on her own Facebook account on Wednesday afternoon, the Conservative politician writes how grateful she is for her time in the Storting. Nevertheless, she seeks new challenges when her parliamentary term comes to an end at next year’s election.

– Today I have decided to decline re-election to the Storting in 2025, writes Westgaard-Halle.

– The Storting has been “the job” for many years, and it is important for myself not to “get stuck” there, even though this time it might have been the most comfortable choice, she writes further.

Westgaard-Halle is originally from Drammen, and tells Drammens Tidende that she would like to move back to her hometown.

– I have had many exciting years as a parliamentary representative, but now I want to do something new, and am very ready for new challenges. Then I have to admit that I miss Drammen. Drammen is home, it’s the city I grew up in and the city I love the most, she writes in an email to the newspaper.

Westgaard-Halle currently lives in Larvik, and has, among other things, sat in the municipal council and in the county council in Vestfold before she was elected to the Storting.
