It happened during the annual meeting of the Norwegian Hunters and Fishermen’s Association Østfold (NJFF Østfold) in mid-March.

At an undramatic and calm annual meeting, Markus Nagele from Borge JFF was re-elected as leader of the regional team, and thus sits until 2026.

Four prestigious effort medals were awarded – the regional team’s highest award – two of which went to local zealots.

This is what was written about the two zealots:

Bjarne Granli from AJFF Halden

Bjarne Granli has been a member of AJFF Halden since 1991, and has held a wide range of positions in the association. Among other things, he has been a member of the river committee for more than 25 years, and he was chairman of the association from 2014–2023.

Granli still holds office in the association, where he has also become an honorary member.

He has contributed to most of the activities the association has had going on since the 90s, and now in recent times Red Skin Disease on salmon in the Enningdalselva must be highlighted, where Granli tackled the problem and made and is making a great effort to get put the spotlight on the disease.

For NJFF Østfold, he has been a national meeting delegate at the national meetings of NJFF in both 2018 and 2021, and was also elected by the annual meeting 2024 as a national meeting delegate for Østfold in 2024.

John Edquist from AJFF Halden

John Edquist has been a member of AJFF Halden since 1968, and an honorary member of the association since 2004. He has been deputy chairman of the association for more than 25 years, and is still in office to this day. He has been central to almost all the work and projects the association has run since he became a member 56 years ago.

Altogether, Edquist has been a board member/committee chairman in the local association for an impressive 50 years!

For NJFF Østfold, John has been 2nd deputy on the regional team board in 2016 and 2017. Even more important has been his commitment to organizing the children’s and youth camp Berby Action Camp over many years. It goes without saying that John received the youth award from NJFF Østfold for his work with Berby Action Camp and work with youth in Halden way back in 2009.

He’s still doing the same thing to this day!

In addition to the two Haldens, Bjørnar Pedersen (Onsøy) and Roy Bye (Kråkerøy) were also awarded the effort medal.
