– This is not Norway

She ends her argument with:

– This is not Norway.

At least 145 people were killed in the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow.

Four men, all with a background from Tajikistan, are imprisoned for the terrorist act itself.

They were arrested in the Bryansk region shortly after the tragedy in the concert hall.

Subsequently, videos surfaced where some of these fellows were harshly treated by the police and security agencies. One of the videos showed one man being subjected to electric shocks to his genitals, while another video showed one of the suspects having part of his ear cut off.

Now Margarita Simonyan, Russia’s most powerful media leader and one of Putin’s leading weapon bearers in the field of propaganda, has advocated that the police officers have done the right thing.

– We hope that the guy who didn’t allow himself to be stopped and cut off his ear doesn’t get anything for it, she says in a TV clip that has been shown on https://twitter.com/francis_scarr/status/1775075309924090066 published by a journalist from @BBCMonitoring.

– You can come up with all your liberal curses and say what you want. I don’t care, because – believe me – an overwhelming majority of us have something to mourn in this situation, something to think about, a sorrow, something that hurts the soul, instead of a severed ear.

– This is not Norway, Margarita Simonjan continues – and justifies that statement with how Anders Behring Breivik is treated in a Norwegian prison after the murders of 77 people.

– Is it like that it should be, she asks rhetorically.

Author of the book “The Warlord in the Kremlin”

Aage Borchgrevink, author of the book “The Warlord in the Kremlin” and an employee of the Helsinki Committee, states that it is not just anyone who says this:

– Simonjan is herself the queen of propaganda. She is head of RT, which is “Russia’s information weapon”, as she has called it herself.

Margarita Simonjan was charged on Monday in absentiaIn absentia means in the absence of. In law, in absentia means without the person concerned being present. (snl.no). in Ukraine for “promoting genocide and other crimes against Ukraine”.

– What do you think about her use of Breivik?

– The story of Breivik has been widely used in the Russian media right from the start. It is supposed to show the liberal softness in the West. There has been a lot of talk about his parole since he was imprisoned. It’s a story they pull out of their hat when needed, replies Aage Borchgrevink.

– What is this really about?

– The story is about attempts to brutalize Russian society. Both the electric torture and having the ear cut off are shared with pride. There is no attempt to hide it – as before.

– Torture against Russian captures nothing new?

– Absolutely not! But what is different is that they tried to hide this before. Now they are rather trying to whip up the mood with fear and rage and a lynch mob. It’s new since the full-scale invasion in February 2022.

– There are also several politicians who have come up with the idea that the death penalty must be practiced again after this terrorist tragedy, concludes Aage Borchgrevink.

Human Rights Watch has condemned the torture of the suspected terrorists.
