Brann started the season by far the best away against Tromsø, and should have scored more in the first quarter. But it took a penalty kick to get the first score.

Bård Finne was put down in Tromsø’s 16-metre area, but got nothing. Then VAR intervened and it was a penalty kick. There, Joachim Soltvedt was as confident as he has been all year and sent Brann into the lead after 17 minutes.

Five minutes later Brann doubled. Niklas Jensen Wassberg won the ball, stormed forward and played through Ulrik Mathisen. He dragged himself into the field and finished via Bård Finne to make it 2–0.

After Brann’s second score, Tromsø took over the game for a few minutes, and had some chances to reduce. But Brann resisted and led by two when the teams went to the break.

In the second half, Brann took just seven minutes to score another goal. And once again Soltvedt. This time he received the ball 20 meters away and tapped it into the goal.

Five minutes later, Niklas Jensen Wassberg had a ball in the net, but it was canceled after a VAR check.

Then Tromsø countered, and despite a brilliant save from Mathias Lønne Dyngeland, he was unable to save the rebound which reduced the home team’s lead.

With barely 20 minutes left, Tromsø reduced the lead once again.

With 14 minutes left in the game, Tromsø were reduced to ten men, when Anders Jenssen picked up his second yellow of the day.

Brann took advantage of Tromsø being one man down, and after less than a minute on the pitch, Aune Heggebø scored Brann’s fourth goal of the evening!

There were no more goals, and Brann had a perfect start to the season.

Already on Sunday 7 April at 19.15, Fredrikstad will be the opponent on the new grass mat at Brann Stadion, and over 14,000 tickets have already been sold. Buy a ticket here before it sells out.
