(Halden Arbeiderblad): According to Danish TV2, scandalous scenes must have occurred during one -tournament in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen on Friday evening.

Stormed the stage – overturned the trophy

It was during the semi-finals of the tournament that spectators stormed the stage. Among other things, the tournament’s trophy is said to have been knocked over and smashed.

– There were probably 20 plus security guards on the stage and suddenly six of them jumped onto the stage. One of them seemed to smash the trophy, says Norwegian Daniel Christensen to VG.

He is one of those who witnessed the chaos from the stands.

The players were sent away, and there was a stoppage in the game of about half an hour.

– The whole hall was shocked and booed. It is the first time something like this has happened and this has been organized for 20 years, summarizes Christensen to VG.

According to Danish TV2, the fact that a streaming service has several fans who do not like any of the sponsors of one team’s kit is the reason for the unrest.

Was in Halden

The same gang has on several occasions protested against a Haldenser, who is associated with CSGORoll, the company that collaborated with the team G2.

They have put up posters and warned against what they believe is the promotion of illegal online casinos, and at the end of February they were in Halden to protest. This time they pitched tents, brought loudspeakers and shouted out their message, in addition to marching around the streets with pitchforks.

The group also set up a web camera that was supposed to film the house of the Haldenser 24 hours a day. This page was taken down after a few days.

One of the central figures behind the protests is a Finnish rapper. He was also one of the people who stormed the stage in Copenhagen on Good Friday. Several posts on X show the Finn surrounded by security guards, and he himself has posted a video in which he is interviewed by Dansk TV after the incident. There he expresses that he why they protest against CSGRoll.

He will not comment on whether they plan more actions against the tournament or how many people planned the action.

One of the owners of CSGOEmpire, a person who calls himself “Monarch”, was quick to take responsibility for the storming in Copenhagen.

– Some of our men are lying on the ground in handcuffs. But we did it guys https://twitter.com/CSGOEmpireV2/status/1773821876755681361

Background information on the case

  • The online casino, CSGO Roll, is an online casino where you can win so-called “skins” that can be used in the online game “Counter Strike”. These “skins” are purely cosmetic, but have a value.
  • In 2023, CSGOEmpire, a competing gambling website to CSGORoll, accused over 40 accounts of money laundering, exchanging skins for cryptocurrency through CSGORoll.
  • The person being demonstrated against is not among those accused of money laundering, but is probably part of a smear campaign they have initiated.
  • CSGORoll and CSGOEmpire are supposed to be bitter competitors, and neither casino wishes the other well. Ideally, they should have seen that each other did not exist.

This is how skin gambling works

Sites like CSGO Roll and CSGOEmpire allow users to take cosmetic items – called “skins” – and use these as a betting currency. Different skins are worth different amounts based on rarity.

Those who use the websites put their own skins in a pot, and participate in a lottery where you can win skins from the others who are in the pot.
