In a recent survey for Tryg Forsikring, 31 percent answered that they plan to take a driving holiday in Norway this summer.

– There are more than the corresponding survey last year, and the increase is particularly large among young adults under the age of 30, says communications adviser Torbjørn Brandeggen at Tryg in a press release.

Under 30 years

This year’s survey shows that 35 per cent of those under 30 answer that they are planning a car holiday in Norway this year, compared to 29 per cent last year.

Geographically, there is the biggest increase among northerners, where 37 per cent are planning a car holiday this year, compared to 29 per cent last year.

New record

– More and more people notice that the private economy is under pressure with expensive times, high interest rates, and more expensive holidays abroad in countries with the euro. For Tryg, increased car traffic here at home this summer could mean more car damage, and we must expect an increased demand for roadside assistance, which we have seen a clear tendency towards in recent years. Last year, over 277,000 rescue missions with roadside assistance were registered for the insurance industry, which is a new record, says Brandeggen.

Last year, the insurance industry recorded over one million car claims on cars and vans at a record high compensation cost of over NOK 18 billion.
