(GD/HA): There are many indications that it will be a gray Easter in the Inland, according to meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Martin Granerød.
– Today it will be mostly cloudy. But there is a high cloud cover at the start of the day, so in some areas the sun probably shines through. This is not persistent. There will be thicker cloud cover throughout the day, then rain will eventually come and then there will be many hours of rain this evening and tonight, Granerød reports to GD.
The precipitation should lighten somewhat during the afternoon on Good Friday.
In Kvitfjell and Hafjell, the precipitation comes as snow. At Skeikampen, Sjusjøen and Ljøsheim, the precipitation alternates between rain and snow. At Budor and Gåsbu, the precipitation comes as rain.
The best Easter weather
– The nearest high pressure is far away, so there will be no stable Easter weather. On Saturday, we can hope that there may be a shorter period of nice Easter weather at the start of the day, says the meteorologist.
But also on Easter evening it will be cloudy until the evening.
– The first period of the day you can hope for some sun. Temperatures can also rise to seven to eight degrees in the lowlands. Temperatures will be somewhat lower in the mountains, he says.
– Now it looks like the first part of Saturday will be the best day, so you should plan well to use this day before it gets cloudy.
Granerød reports rain and precipitation for the first part of Sunday, but lingering weather in the afternoon. It will still be gray on Sunday afternoon and evening.
– On Monday it will mostly be cloudy, but still lingering weather.
Plus degrees
Until Monday, temperatures will mostly be on the positive side, according to the meteorologist.
– In the lowlands, temperatures are between five and ten degrees during the day, and between zero and five during the night. On Saturday, there may be a few minus degrees at night, if the weather stays, he says and continues:
– It gets cooler in the mountains. On Lake Sjusjøen, for example, daytime temperatures are five degrees, and minus degrees at night. Night to Saturday it can be around five degrees below zero.
The night to Good Friday will be somewhat windy in the mountains, but in the lowlands you will not notice this. The meteorologists have sent out a danger warning for heavy snowfall in the mountains in southern Norway.
– In the mountains, there can be some challenging driving conditions in the evening and at night, he says.
The consequences can be reduced visibility, locally difficult driving conditions, queue driving and ultimately closed roads. The warning lasts until Friday night.
