The service was reserved for the mourners and the local population. Little Torpo in Ål is still in shock and grief over the triple murder last Saturday, where the father in the family is accused of having shot his wife Ingunn Slaatten (53) and children Sander Slaatten (22) and Signe Slaatten (18) before taking his own life. The family was well known in the local community.

Torpo church kept its doors open on Sunday, and has been a gathering place for the village in mourning. Among others, Bishop Jan Otto Myrseth in the Tunsberg diocese came to Thursday’s service.

– We search together here under the high vault of the church, because we need each other. We need the reminder that we belong together, especially in the face of the darkness of death, he began.

Councilor Karsten Popp Dideriksen gave a speech in the church.

– It is unimaginable and cruel. We feel shock and deep despair, he said, according to VG.

The service was concluded by parish priest Sveinung Hansen in Hallingdal parish, who passed on a greeting from the family.

– I would like to greet you from the immediate family and express a warm thank you and the greatest gratitude for all the support from family, friends, acquaintances and strangers they have received in recent days, he said.
