Broke in and let horses loose: – Dangerous to life

--

– It is very uncomfortable and frightening.

That is what the horses’ owner, Monica Myhre, tells VG.

The first time a person got in and let the horses loose from a stable in Lier was on the night of Monday.

– Then the police had contacted the owners of the stables at four in the morning.

The one autumn then ran along the E18, says Monica.

It was Drammens Tidene that mentioned the case first.

Caught on camera

Myhre thought it was strange that the horses had gotten loose, as the stalls they are in are locked with a safety lock.

The surveillance camera set up in the stable turns on when there is enough movement, but there were no visual effects. Therefore, they settled on the fact that the strange event had gone well after all.

However, three days later, on the night of Wednesday, it happened again.

– Both horses got out. Fortunately, a person nearby saw it and contacted the owner of the stable.

This time the surveillance camera had switched on, and according to Myhre they could observe a person entering the stable and opening the stalls.

– Like getting a moose through the route

Stable owner Karina Espedal confirms the above incident to VG.

– I had contact with the police last night. This is very uncomfortable.

Espedal says she will report the incident to the police. Myhre has already reviewed.

The stable owner believes it is just luck that so far there have been no injuries to either people or animals.

– These are great riding horses. Getting one like that on the hood is like getting a moose through the window.

The police have been handed over the surveillance video.

– We are aware of the incident and will follow up, operations manager in the South-East police district, Inge Landsrød, told DT.

Could have happened in several places

– We are talking about animals of 700 kilos here, and there is a motorway right nearby, says Myhre.

– One thing is that the horses can be killed, but I also think about those in the cars along the road. It puts human life at risk and is very unpleasant.

Another nearby stable owner, Stall Hafskjord, has also had visits from uninvited guests, the owner tells Drammens Tidende. Three stall doors must have been open.

When VG contacts stable owner Rebekka Hadskjold, she replies the following via SMS:

– Unfortunately, I’m busy going night owls at the stables and setting up cameras since the police said I had to call back on Tuesday.

– Not a good feeling

Horse owner Myhre says it is disgusting to think that there are people who do this knowingly and willingly. She herself has no idea who the person might be.

– Have you noticed that the horses have been stressed by this?

– They have had a slightly different pattern in recent days, so I have noticed that something or the other has not been as it usually is with them.

The stable has now installed security guards and will install lights that react to sensors on the outside as well.

– Are you afraid that it will happen again?

– Yes. It won’t be a good feeling tonight.
