30 years since Norway participated in the Balkans

--

Today, approximately 1,700 veterans are marching through Karl Johan to mark 30 years since Norway participated in international operations in the Balkans.

– Reuniting with those you have been out with is an incredibly important moment. It is important for the Armed Forces to take care of our veterans.

That’s what Colonel Morten Henriksen says. He is a veteran inspector and is responsible for the scheme today.

– There is a joy mixed with horror in this, but it looks like it will go well, he says.

FIXED: Morten Henriksen, veteran inspector, is the one who has made the day possible for the veterans.

The anniversary was actually supposed to be a couple of years ago, but Henriksen is happy to finally be able to carry it out.

– It has been postponed a bit due to covid and other things, but now we finally got it done.

MINGLER: Many people think it was nice to see each other again. It is rare that the veterans get to meet in this way, so it is extra good when they first get together.

12,000 veterans from all over the country were invited to the anniversary.

The party will continue and the veterans will, among other things, go to Oslo spektrum to see the Norwegian Military Tattoo (NMT), before they go back to Akershus fortress to celebrate the evening.
