(Østlandets Blad): – At first I wondered if I could have put it down somewhere else, but quickly realized that the car had been stolen during the night, Leif Einar Johnsen tells Østlandets Blad.

Via an app on Johnsen’s phone, he can know both when the car drove off, but also the route and where it possibly stops.

Have a map showing the drive after the theft

– I have the map which shows that the car drove to a road in Tomter called Skogfaret, but it is no longer there, he says further.

When ØB arrives at Johnsen’s home in Kråkstad on Tuesday morning, a police patrol is also in place. They had secured what was off track and conducted an interrogation of the car owner.

– We went to the address in question in Tomter, but the car was gone, a police officer told ØB.

Now the police want tips from the public if they may have seen any kind of unusual traffic in the area of Kråkstad during the night, or during the car’s journey towards Tomter.

Scanned the car key that was inside the house

The car was stolen at 02.44 on Tuesday night when the thief(s) scanned the car key, which was lying on a table in the basement of the house.

The police received a report of the theft at 06:54. They then drove out to Tomter, but the car had, as mentioned, been driven on.

– After the car parked in Tomter at 03.01, all traces disappear. It appears the thieves removed the tracking device somehow. Now I trust that the security system in the car, which connects to the emergency services in the event of an accident, can help me find the car, says Johnsen.

Theft of Rav4 models has exploded

Theft of Toyota RAV4 has exploded recently. Gjensidige issued the following message about this on 1 March this year.

Recently, organized gangs have been behind the theft of a large number of Toyota Land Cruisers and Rav 4s in Eastern Norway. By connecting to the car’s wiring and starting the engine, thieves exploit loopholes in the security systems of your car. An important security measure that you who have a car of this type can take is to store the key in a metal box so that the signals from the key are blocked, it says in the message.

VG wrote an article on the same topic in December last year. They were then able to reveal that as many as 32 cars of the type that Johnsen owns had been stolen in Eastern Norway during a shorter period.

Drove very slowly towards Tomter

Johnsen’s car is a 2020 model Toyota RAV4. It was plugged in to charge when it was stolen from their yard. On Johnsen’s app, he can not only track the driving route, but also the average speed of the journey.

– I have to say that I am a little surprised that they have driven an average of 47 kilometers per hour from our yard and all the way to Tomter. It’s so slow that someone must have caught it. Johnsen hopes that someone can tip him or the police off if they have information about the stolen car.

Can be used for other criminal acts

The car’s registration number is BE27397.

No one can answer what the plan is with the car, but the police on the scene mention both resale, part sale, or that it will be used for other criminal acts, as possible plans for the theft. It is also possible that the car was quickly fitted with different license plates than the original ones.

The police have opened a case after the car theft.

Below you can see the route of the car after it was stolen from Kråkstad.
