Opens police office in Salangen in Troms in April – NRK Troms and Finnmark

– It will be exciting. We are now looking forward to getting the premises in place and having good meetings with the residents of the municipality.

That’s according to police station chief at Midt-Troms police station, John Kåre Granheim.

The office in Salangen will open in mid-April, according to the police in Troms.

This week the police signed a contract with Sjøvegan utleigebygg AS, for the rental of premises in Salangen.

These will be the new premises for the Troms police district and Midt-Troms police station district.

The office in Salangen opens in connection with the government’s agreement to open several new police service stations.

– Will cover several municipalities

The police station chief says that it has been important to get the office space, which the government has ordered.

It has taken a little longer than planned.

The employees have been in place since last year, while the agreement on the premises has been more time-consuming to get in place.

– Those who have their workplace here will cover several municipalities, but will have their office in Salangen. And then it will be possible to come in during office hours two days a week, says Granheim.

In 2017, the message came that lThe one-man office in Salangen was to be closed down.

In 2021, there was talk of the office being re-established, following a promise from the Center Party.
