Happy people often have sex toys in the bedroom

--

Danish researchers have investigated the use of sex toys in six European countries.

The results show that people who own and use sex toys are generally more satisfied with both their sex life and life in general.

Forskning.no mentioned the study first.

Dildo and vibrator at the top

The Danish researchers sent a survey to 11,944 people from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, France and Great Britain.

In the study, they investigated how the ownership and use of sex toys affects how satisfied people are with their sex life, relationship and quality of life.

The most common sex toys were dildos and vibrators, followed by handcuffs, penis rings and anal toys. Over half of the participants reported using one of these sex toys either alone or with a regular partner.

Uncertain cause

One of the researchers behind the study tells forskning.no that it cannot be proven that sex toys actually make people happier.

Although sex toy users in the survey state that they are happier than those who do not, the researchers have not investigated the reasons why this is so.

– We believe that there is probably a two-way effect, so that those who are already in a relationship where they experience a certain degree of security, openness and good communication, and who may already be more satisfied with their sex life, are more inclined to dare and be willing to include and experiment with sex toys, says Professor Gerd Martin Hald at the University of Copenhagen to forskning.no.
