Theatre, Comedian | Reveals new collaboration: Must sabotage on purpose

--

The comedy success “Peter Pan Goes Wrong” has taken Broadway by storm for several years, and after it was also a success in Sweden, it is now clear that “Peter Pan Goes to Hell” is coming to Norway.

With Bjarte Hjelmeland as producer, the star line-up consisting of, among others, Atle Antonsen, Trond Fausa, Siw Anita Andersen, Nils-Ingar Aadne, Vidar Magnussen and Kristine Grændsen will create madness on stage in the New Year.

– When you see this star team that will play this play at Chateau Neuf after Christmas, there is no doubt that this is going to be a “blockbuster” that everyone must see. The play itself is so funny, and when we bring in our beloved profiles that we know from various TV programmes, the audience will love this, Bjarte Hjelmeland (54) tells Nettavisen.

Shall sabotage on purpose

“In the performance, the audience meets an awkward but warm-hearted group of amateur actors who will together stage the classic tale of Peter Pan, but even before the stage curtain has gone up they run into problems,” the press release says.

The trend of making plays where the actors deliberately sabotage the play started in London in 2012 when “The Play That Goes Wrong” became a smash hit.

When Hjelmeland was given the task of recreating the success in Norway, he was clear about what was most important to him:

– It has almost been more important to put together a good group that wants to play together, than to think about who will play which roles. We were mostly concerned with creating the good dynamic. So I certainly had an important hand in the game, explains Hjelmeland.

Atle Antonsen (54) has the role of narrator in the production. He is full of praise for the upcoming project:

– It is, after all, a disaster comedy. It starts badly and only goes downhill, so I think it will be a lot of fun, says Antonsen to Nettavisen.

– There is something human about it

Forgetting a line or doing something wrong on stage is usually an actor’s worst nightmare.

That the mistakes will now be made on purpose resonates well with actor Vidar Magnussen, who is currently in the TV 2 series “The Game”.

– There is something deeply human about making mistakes, so there is something nice about it, Vidar Magnussen (46) tells Nettavisen.

In this production, it is planned that things will go wrong on stage, but it is still not excluded that even more mistakes can be made than what was planned.

– Let’s hope that doesn’t happen here. The worst thing that can happen here is that people laugh themselves to death, Hjelmeland grins.
