Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and received treatment which was apparently effective at the time. In 2020, the cancer returned, writes the New York Post.

The actress was told that the cancer had spread to the brain, and in 2023 she said that the cancer was incurable and that it had spread to the skeleton.

In this country, Doherty is probably best known for the TV series “Beverly Hills 90210” and “Charmed”, which were broadcast on TVNorge and TV3 respectively.

– It’s going to be difficult

It is in her podcast “Let’s Be Clear” that Doherty talks candidly about the disease and how she wants to make the lives of those around her easier after she has passed away.

– My priority now is my mother. I know it will be difficult for her if I pass away before her, she says.

– Because it will be so difficult for her, I want other things to be much easier. I don’t want her to have a lot of things to deal with. I don’t want her to have four storage rooms filled with furniture, Doherty continues.

According to her, she has started going through her possessions and donating or giving away her things “in case” something happens to her.

The actor says that throwing things away and letting go of possessions will “help with the transition to the rest of the family.”

“Don’t want them there”

Since Shannon Doherty was diagnosed with cancer, she has been open about life with the disease. Earlier this year, she said she was afraid of the “death process”, writes The Los Angeles Times.

– I have 100 percent those moments where I feel all this and want something else. The most important thing for me is that I don’t want to die too soon, because I have a lot to do.

According to Doherty, she has also started thinking about her funeral, which made her realize that there are “a lot of people she doesn’t want there”.

– Because the reasons why they show up are not necessarily the best, for example that they don’t really like me.

– They have their reasons, and it’s good for them. “But they don’t really like me enough to show up at my funeral, but they do it because it’s politically correct and because they don’t want to look bad,” Doherty said.
