Book success becomes a star-studded feature film

Pierce Brosnan, who has played both detective Remington Steele and 007 agent James Bond, steps into the role of ex-union leader Ron.

Helen Mirren will play the former spy Elisabeth, Ben Kingsley takes the role of the retired psychiatrist Ibrahim, while negotiations are underway with the actor currently in the role of the retired nurse Joyce, reports Deadline.

Died two days before TV premiere

– I am delighted that Helen Mirren will bring Elizabeth to life on the cinema screen. She is a true icon and I know she will capture the intelligence, humor and courage that make Elizabeth such a beloved character, Osman has stated.

The director will be Chris Columbus, who broke through with the “Home Alone” films and went on to “Mrs. Doubtfire’, two Harry Potter films and in later years ‘Pixels’.

The curious quartet lives in an old people’s home where they get their nose into a lot of strange things, as author Richard Osman has described in four – soon to be five – books in the book series “Thursday Murder Club”. The first book became a bestseller when it was published in 2020.

Here in Norway, Gursli Berg Forlag publishes Osman’s books, and the publisher states that they sell well in Norway as well.
