Ida Elise Broch experiences incitement after “The Game”: – Extremely unpleasant

--

The competition among the participants in TV 2’s viewer magnet “The Game” is intensifying. The programme, which has an average of 900,000 viewers, engages many.

One of those who has experienced the commitment is actress Ida Elise Broch.

– I have received a lot of incitement and a lot of offensive comments, she says in Tuesday’s broadcast of “Dagens” on NRK P1.

Broch says that several people have commented under old photos she has posted on social media.

– Ugh, no, there are really ugly people who go straight to the private person and how much they dislike and hate me.

During several of Broch’s posts on Instagram, she has received comments such as “your Judas”, “fake” and “unfortunately you are the one I dislike in this programme”.

Broch further says that she has received inquiries that she will lose friends as a result of the participation. In addition, several people point out, according to Broch, that the viewers now get an insight into who she really is.

– What does that do to you then?

– It is, of course, extremely unpleasant. It is very hurtful. So it goes in waves and valleys here, but the pressure immediately afterwards was quite intense.

– Not fully prepared

In the program’s first season, twelve celebrities moved into a large, modern villa, and then voted out one contestant at a time.

What they do not know is that those who are voted out are not sent home, but rather to the house’s basement – something that greatly surprises them.

On Sunday, however, the basement players, including Broch, came upstairs. Then Broch voted out influencer Martine Lunde (28), who was eliminated from the game for good.

– I notice that I was not fully prepared for the fact that not everyone would see it for what it actually is – a game, she says and continues:

– It’s a completely insane game, which involves voting people out. It is of course not fun, but it is important to orient people to the reality that there is a distinction – it is a competition and then we are private individuals.

Broch goes on to say that she didn’t have much knowledge of reality TV before “The Game”, and would have liked to understand more about what it really is before she was in it herself.

VG has tried to get in touch with Broch, so far without success.

Trygve Rønningen, program editor at TV 2, tells NRK that it is sad that Broch has such experiences. At the same time, he is “a little happy” that she and Vidar Magnussen, who are also guests of “Dagens”, insist that the program is entertainment.

– The vast, vast majority of people who watch this programme, they behave and like the programme, so we’d rather use every single day to fight against these internet trolls who simply don’t know any better.

Program editor in TV 2

He writes in an email to VG that both the production company and TV 2 have dialogue and follow-up with the participants before, during and after the recording of their various programmes.

– Does the production prepare the participants for the possibility of harassment and/or unwanted attention after they have taken part in reality programmes?

– In general, this is one of the topics we often talk to participants about, yes. When you are on TV in front of a million viewers, it will unfortunately often be the case that someone needs to say something negative. This is something we strongly distance ourselves from, and which we must all contribute to fighting.

Confirms new season

Recently, it became clear that “The Game” will get a sequel season after the spring’s success. Then there must also be changes in the series, as the stay in the basement of the “Game” house is no longer a secret.

How this will be resolved, it is too early to say, according to the program editor.

– Those who sit and wonder what the upcoming season of “The Game” will be like, just have to keep wondering. Because that’s what “The Game” is all about. There are sure to be new disputes and surprises, said Trygve Rønningen in a press release.
