– Louisiana’s governor is trying to take us back to the Stone Age – Document

--

The Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger sparked a small feud between himself and Louisiana’s governor when he performed in the state on Thursday, writes Fox News.

The 80-year-old British singer and his band performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. After finishing the song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”, Jagger shouted:

– We’re a welcoming audience, aren’t we? Jagger asked. I hope Mr. Landry enjoys the show. He’s really inclusive, you know. He is trying to take us back to the Stone Age.

Although Jagger did not elaborate on the comment, Landry has supported several conservative policy measures since taking office in January, such as passing tougher anti-crime legislation and liberal gun laws.

Landry has also indicated he would support bills previously voted down by Democrat John Bel Edwards, such as one that would ban discussion of gender identity in public schools and require teachers to inform parents of students who change pronouns.

Shortly after the comment, the Republican governor responded on social media:

– You can’t always get what you want. The only person who might remember the Stone Age is Mick Jagger. Love you buddy, you’re always welcome in Louisiana!

In 2016, the Rolling Stones demanded that then-candidate Donald Trump stop using the songs and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Start Me Up” during election campaign rallies, writes Fox.

When he continued to use the song in 2020, the band eventually sought legal action in partnership with BMI, a performing artists’ rights organization.

Considering that Mick Jagger has a villa in the borough of Richmond outside London, it is strange that he has not spoken out about Islam taking the capital and Britain back to the Middle Ages. After all, that is also where he has the right to vote, not in the United States.

The Rolling Stones reacted to the election of Trump seven years ago and kept a professional tone, especially the late Charlie Watts.
