“Challengers” has its Norwegian premiere on 26 April and is the new film from “Call Me By Your Name” director Luca Guadagnino.
There, the superstar Zendaya plays the former tennis pro Tashi Duncan in a triangular drama with the tennis world as a backdrop. Co-stars are Golden Globe winner Josh O’Connor (“The Crown”) and Bafta nominee Mike Faist (“West Side Story”).

Tennis every morning
Zendaya admits that she didn’t know the slightest about tennis, so famous matches on YouTube to watch and learn.
– I knew frighteningly little, and that’s what made me want to play in the film. Every morning for a long time, as soon as I woke up, I pressed “play” and watched tennis matches, she tells TT.
No more cases to solve for “Vera”
Zendaya’s character Tashi is described as uncompromising off the court as she was on it – and is now married to a champion player. At the same time as he struggles to win, they meet the estranged Patrick – Tashi’s ex and her husband’s former best friend.

Fell in love
It happens in connection with a so-called “challenge” – hence the title of the film.
Thus, the past meets the present, and Zendaya’s character must find out at what price a victory will cost, says the plot.
– It was very interesting to see how gifted all the players I saw on video were. It made me fall in love with the game. Studying the psychology of these players was so impressive – how they could cope with the incredible pressure they were under.

Uncertain with “Euphoria”
Zendaya can currently be seen in “Dune: Part Two” in theaters. There will also be a third part in a few years. In contrast, it has still been uncertain whether there will be a third season of the hit series “Euphoria”, which has earned Zendaya two Emmy awards for best lead actress.
A new season was supposed to be recorded this year, but has been put on hold. When asked if there will be more, Zendaya just throws up her arms and says:
– I hope so.
