Harald Eia (58) has been a well-known and beloved favorite of many on the TV screen for the past 20 years.

He is probably best known for a number of comedy programs on NRK, in collaboration with, among others, Bård Tufte Johansen (54) and Atle Antonsen (54).

In recent years, he has led the audience favorite “Glasses” and other TV programs, where he has combined his career as a comedian with his education as a sociologist.

In recent years, however, it has been a while since Norwegian TV viewers have been able to see the popular comedian as presenter or participant in a TV programme, without some small guest appearances here and there.

Not consciously

This spring, however, he is relevant again with several TV programmes. The reason why he has not worked in front of the cameras in previous years, he explains as follows:

– The fact that I haven’t been on TV that much is really just about the fact that I’ve done other things like podcasts and lectures as well. It has not been a conscious choice, but I go for what I find interesting, says Eia to Nettavisen.

Together with Tore Sagen (43), he started the podcast “Tore og Harald’s podcast” on Schibsted’s podcast platform PodMe in 2022. In the podcast, they address ethics and different perspectives on current topics.

Among other things, the podcast has won the award for funniest podcast at the Humor Prize 2022.

– Now I think it’s fun to do podcasts with Tore Sagen, and then I spend a lot of time on it, explains Eia.

– But when I think about it, maybe it’s been a while since I’ve been on TV, he acknowledges.

– Picky

As mentioned, Eia is doubly current this spring with the TV 2 programs “Vinnerschkalle” and the major investment “The Game”, where in the former he appeared in the iconic character “Oslolosen”.

The character was first presented in the NRK program “Ut i vår hage 2” in 2008, but has been used extensively by the comedian throughout. He tells Nettavisen that it was a reunion with the character that, among other things, drew him back to the TV screen.

– It sounded like fun, especially when I could be the “Oslolosen” again. I thought I should master that well, and “The Game” seemed interesting to me, says Eia.

It seems that the comedian has chosen the right programs to make a comeback with. In March, TV 2 was able to report that the fresh TV 2 concept “The Game” has so far averaged 900,000 viewers, while the premiere episode passed one million viewers.

– I’m quite picky and only accept what I think is fun. I’m probably not going to be on “The Farm”, I’m afraid, says Eia.

– Maybe if I get really desperate, but I usually go for what I think is fun, he adds with a twinkle in his eye.
