Bright spot for new home sales | Finansavisen

--

Since mid-February, 1,882 new homes have been sold, 39 per cent more than in the previous two-month period and 12 per cent more than the same period last year.

“Despite the upswing, new home sales are still at a low level,” recalls Samfunnskonkonik Analyze in its latest report.

Since the last census in February, 1,566 new homes have started sales in Norway, while 1,169 homes have been sold. Thus, the total number of unsold homes has fallen to 13,485 homes.

“The stock of unsold homes is also affected by the fact that certain housing projects are temporarily halted, canceled or put up for sale again,” it says.

Highest pace in the west

Sales since February make up 13 per cent of the homes that have been for sale, 4 percentage points more than in the previous two-month period and 3 percentage points higher than in the same period last year.

The highest sales rate can be found in Western Norway with 15 per cent, ahead of Eastern Norway with 13 per cent, Southern Norway with 11 per cent, Central Norway with 10 per cent and Northern Norway with 9 per cent.

On average, homes in Norway cost NOK 67,800 per square meters, 3 percent more than at the same time last year. The price is highest in Eastern Norway at NOK 74,600, while Southern Norway is the lowest at NOK 56,100.
