Sander Berge and Burnley in huge trouble in the relegation battle

(Burnley – Newcastle 1–4) Newcastle sent Burnley a long step towards relegation.

Burnley were beaten by Newcastle. At the same time, Nottingham Forest did the job and won 1-3 against Sheffield United – who are already ready for the Championship.

Three teams move down to the Championship. Berge & co. are five points up on Nottingham Forest in a safe place. Luton are also two points ahead.

With two games to go, Burnley have put themselves in a difficult position.

Burnley’s hope to save the place in Premier League hanging in one very thin thread:

• Burnley must win their remaining two games.
• At the same time, Luton must lose at least one of their two games.
• Nottingham Forest must lose both of theirs.

Luton have six goals better on goal difference than Burnley, and Nottingham have 17 goals better.

Already at half-time, Vincent Kompany’s men were 0-3 down, after goals from Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimarães.

Sander Berge and his teammates were ushered into the dressing room at Turf Moor.

In the second half, the pain got worse. Alexander Isak made it 0-4 ten minutes into the half, shortly after he had missed from the penalty spot. That was also the result in the match.

Dara O’Shea slotted in a consolation goal a few minutes before full-time, but to no avail.

Kristoffer Ajer had to leave after a bloody blow when Brentford played 0-0 against Fulham:

Newcastle is in 6th place in the table – four points behind Spurs (Spurs have played one game less), two points ahead of Manchester United and five ahead of Chelsea. Chelsea and Tottenham play on Sunday, and United play on Monday.

Leicester City and Ipswich Town are already ready for the Premier League. Leeds, Southampton, West Bromwich and Norwich will play a playoff for the last Premier League place.
