Xiaomi SU7 – 50,000 orders in 27 minutes

--

(Elbil24): Chinese Xiaomi is known for a number of electronic products and makes everything from robot vacuum cleaners to mobile phones.

Before Christmas, the company showed off its first electric car, the SU7, and during the Easter weekend Xiaomi opened for orders in 59 stores scattered around China.

Violent interest

Xiaomi is a company that has a high star among the Chinese population, and this is underlined by the figures from the pre-sales.

Because even though it cost the Chinese around NOK 9,000 to reserve the SU7, Xiaomi received 50,000 orders in just 27 minutes, and after a day the number of orders was close to 90,000 cars. That is suddenly more than what Xiaomi manages to produce from the SU7 for the rest of the year.

– No reason to fear China

The price in China starts at NOK 326,000 for the SU7, which is around NOK 45,000 less than what Tesla charges for the Model 3 in China. And that despite the fact that the SU7 is a significantly larger car – in fact, with its 499.7 cm, it is also larger than the Model S.

Three editions

Where the entry-level model has operation on two wheels, an engine of 299 hp and a battery of 73.6 kWh, the Pro version has the same motorisation, but a larger battery – 94.3 kWh. According to the Chinese CLTC standard, which is far kinder than WLTP, these two variants go 700 and 830 km respectively. The price difference is approximately NOK 45,000.

The best version is the SU7 Max, with 800V architecture and 101 kWh battery, which should be able to charge 10-80 in 19 minutes. It pulls on all four wheels with a total output of 673 horsepower, does 0-100 in 2.78 seconds and costs around NOK 450,000 in China.
