Shipowner Johannes Østensjø in Haugesund is selling all his 21.3 million shares in offshore wind shipping company Edda Wind at a price of NOK 24.50.
This means a share sale for NOK 522 million.
In a separate stock exchange announcement, it appears that John Fredriksen’s Geveran Trading buys 10.3 million of the shares, while Wilhelmsen New Energy buys 6.3 million shares and Idan Ofer’s EPS Ventures 4.7 million.
The seller of the shares is the company Østensjø Wind, part of the Østensjø group. Johannes Østensjø’s daughter Sonja Margrethe Østensjø is the main shareholder.
Fredriksen was one of the main investors and injected NOK 200 million when the company went public in 2021, and subsequently the investor has bought up several times.
After the transaction, this means that John Fredriksen moves up as the largest shareholder with a share of 31.03 per cent, closely followed by Wilh. The Wilhelmsen company.
“Edda Wind has taken an early position in offshore wind, a market that will grow strongly in the coming years,” Adrian Geelmuyden of Fredriksen’s management company Seatankers told Finansavisen in connection with the issue in November 2021.
“The company has heavy industrial owners, and the foundation is there for further growth with the ambition to create a clear market leader,” said Geelmuyden.
Haugesund-based Edda Wind offers ships for the installation of wind turbines at sea. Østensjø took the initiative to establish the company and procured the first contracts for the rental of ships for the offshore wind industry.
Johannes Østensjø has built up a significant shipping business, which, in addition to Edda Wind, consists of tugboats, subsea vessels, supply vessels and houseboats.
In 2021, the shipping company underwent a generational change. Now it is the daughter Sonja M. who is chairman of the board and largest shareholder through the company Verteks II.
