The government will invest in physical textbooks in school. Now they will give 300 million for this purpose.

Kari Nessa Nordtun has been critical of the excessive use of digital weighing equipment in school.

Just a few weeks into her role as Minister of Education, she said that they wanted to make schools mobile-free.

The start of a very clear indication that our children should read more, said Jonas Gahr Støre.

He encourages grandparents to read more to their grandchildren.

The government says that they take seriously the fact that children’s motivation to read has decreased in several European countries, including Norway.

There will be approximately one book per student.

The government has previously proposed 25 million to invest in reading in the state budget for 2025.

The money will be used to strengthen pupils’ reading skills and motivation.

Screen use challenges concentration

The screen use committee was appointed by the government to provide a better knowledge base on how screen use affects the health and learning of young people.

The committee handed over the first draft of its research to the Minister of Knowledge at the end of last year.

They believe that screen use challenges students’ concentration and that it is best to read long texts on paper to think better.

The committee must deliver its full report at the end of the year.
