– Ukraine is not fighting alone. Contrary to what has often happened in the past, we will not fight alone either.

That’s what Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski says in an interview with the German newspaper Bild.

Here you can read more about the war in Ukraine!

Sikorski is clear that it is important that Vladimir Putin and his Russia are defeated within Ukraine’s borders, otherwise the Russian army can appear on Poland’s doorstep, the foreign minister believes.

Comparing Putin to Hitler

– Then Putin will do the same as Hitler did to Czechoslovakia. He wants to mobilize the Ukrainian population and industry in order to continue, he says in the interview reproduced by Newsweek.

Just a few months later, in September 1939, Poland fell victim to Hitler’s war machine. At the same time, Stalin and the Soviet Union began their invasion from the east.

Poland has long experience with Russian aggression and great power politics.

Since Vladimir Putin went to full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022, Poland has been among Ukraine’s foremost supporters.

In addition to being a contributor in terms of weapons and other military equipment, such as combat aircraft, the country has also acted as a transit country for material from other powers bound for Kyiv.

If Russia were to end up in a direct confrontation with Poland and the country’s NATO allies, Sikorski is sure that the giant in the east will be defeated.

– In this situation, Russia will lose. We, the West, are far more powerful than Russia, says the foreign minister, who states that he would not have been surprised if Russia attacked Poland.

Ukraine needs soldiers

Last week it became clear that Poland may consider sending exiled Ukrainians of fighting age back to their homeland to help Ukrainian authorities recruit more soldiers.

Several tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers have probably fallen in combat since February 2022. Exact casualty figures are kept secret by the authorities in Kyiv.

At the same time, there are supposed to be over 150,000 Ukrainians of fighting age in Poland.
