Susan Carter (41) and her daughter Natasha “Alex” Carter (10) were shot and killed in West Virginia 24 years ago, in August 2000.

Their bodies have disappeared without a trace for the past 24 years, but on his deathbed the perpetrator chose to admit that he committed the murders, while also sharing information that led to the discovery of their bodies.

That’s what CNN writes.

Carter and her daughter lived with 82-year-old Larry Webb before the murders took place. According to prosecutor Benjamin Hatfield, Webb explained that he believed Susan Carter had taken money from him. A confrontation broke out, leading to him shooting the 41-year-old mother.

In order not to leave any witnesses, he felt compelled to shoot ten-year-old Natasha as well.

After killing both of them, he stored them in his basement. Here they lay for two nights, while Webb dug a grave for them on his own property, says Hatfield to Fox News.

Postponed trial

Webb has been a suspect in the case for many years. In October 2023, he was charged with the murder of the ten-year-old girl, without the bodies being found. The investigators then had both DNA evidence and witness statements.

The trial has since been postponed, as the police have had difficulties in making arrangements for Webb’s medical condition, says prosecutor Benjamin Hatfield.

While waiting for him to be moved to prison, the 82-year-old was placed in a nursing home. This is where he made the admission.

– Never give up

On Monday morning, Webb died at the nursing home.

Only hours later, Susan and “Alex” were found on Webb’s property, according to Hatfield.

Rick Lafferty, Natasha Carter’s father, has come up with some advice for those who would find themselves in the same situation.

– Never give up. Never give up hope of finding your child, he says according to CNN.
