The search crews have tried several different ways to find and get in touch with Adrian.

“Unfortunately, the night did not yield results,” said a spokesperson for the police in the morning hours on Saturday.

Around 200 soldiers equipped with night vision goggles took part in the search on the night of Saturday, but without finding any trace of the missing boy.

Silent search

On the advice of autism experts, the soldiers made no attempt to shout or otherwise make contact with Adrian, who, due to autism, does not respond when spoken to.

Earlier in the week, search crews set off fireworks, because Adrian has always been excited by this, but this did not yield results either.

Fire crews have also hung balloons and candy in the trees around the family’s home, hoping he would see it and come back.

Helicopters and drones

Adrian left his parents’ house on Monday evening. A surveillance camera showed him running in the direction of the forest area where the search has since been concentrated.

Hundreds of volunteers have taken part in the search, and the German army on Friday expanded its contribution to around 450 soldiers. Helicopters and drones are also used in the search, and a surveillance plane has used a heat-seeking camera in the hope of finding the boy.

On Saturday, a search will be made along the river Oste, where divers from the police searched earlier in the week.
