According to a Ukrainian intelligence source, it was drones from the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) that hit the two Rosneft-owned fuel storage facilities in the Smolensk region.

The warehouses reportedly contain 26,000 cubic meters of fuel and are now on fire. The employees at the facilities must have been evacuated, but the information about this has not been confirmed from other sources.

However, the governor of the Smolensk region confirms that the fuel stocks were exposed to a Ukrainian drone attack on the night of Wednesday.

– Our region is again being attacked by Ukrainian drones. As a result of the enemy attack on civilian fuel and energy facilities, Smolensk and Yartsevo districts are burning, says Governor Vasiliy Anokhin on Telegram.

– The SBU continues to effectively destroy military infrastructure and logistics that supply the Russian army in Ukraine with fuel, says the Ukrainian intelligence source.

– These facilities both are and will continue to be absolutely legitimate targets for us, says the person concerned.

Governor Igor Artamonov of Lipetsk in southwestern Russia says a Ukrainian drone crashed in an industrial area, but no one was hurt. He does not say anything about material destruction or what the purpose of the drone was.
