Easter is here, and there are probably also some who will use their days off to take care of their home turf and clean up the garden after the brutal winter.
Nevertheless, there are several things to keep in mind before starting the gardening work. If there is a lot of noise with the work you have to do, you should avoid it on public holidays.
Because it is not just annoyed neighbors that you risk if Easter’s red days are not respected:
– The police often have a lot to do, so it is not certain that it will be prioritized. But in the extreme, you can risk fines, says lawyer Morten Fæste of the House Owners’ National Association to DinSide.

In Norway, we actually have a law on public holidays and public holidays, so you should avoid using chainsaws and lawnmowers on the following days during Easter:
- Maundy Thursday
- Good Friday
- Easter Sunday
- Second Easter Sunday
But the holiday peace does not only apply when it comes to work in the garden.
– If you live in a block of flats, you shouldn’t renovate on public holidays either, says Fæste.

The lawyer points out that the same rules also apply when you are in the cabin.
– We receive a number of inquiries about noise during public holidays and holidays. Many of our members are also annoyed that the neighbor is building on the cabin, and wonder if they are allowed to do so.
