In a statement, the Russian Investigative Committee alleges that the attackers had received significant sums in cash and cryptocurrency from Ukraine.

– As a result of the work with the arrested terrorists, an investigation of technical equipment seized from them and analysis of financial transactions, evidence of their connections with Ukrainian nationalists has been obtained, the committee writes in the statement.

However, it is not known what evidence it might be in question.

In addition, the committee states on Thursday that a further suspect is in custody. The person must have been involved in financing the terror, it is claimed in the statement.

Even Putin’s inner circle has doubts

The statement comes not long after several media reported that even in President Vladimir Putin’s innermost circles, the claim that Ukraine was behind the terrorist attack is not given much credence.

The American newspaper Bloomberg writes that they have spoken to four people with close ties to the Kremlin.

They are informed by their sources that only a few in Russia’s economic and political elite believe that Ukraine was behind the attack.

The newspaper writes that this was discussed during a meeting where it was agreed that there was no connection to Ukraine to trace. Putin himself attended this meeting.

Refuse

Ukraine has previously denied having anything to do with the attack, and the terrorist group IS has claimed responsibility in several messages.

At least four armed men entered the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, just outside Moscow, on Friday night. 143 people were killed when the perpetrators shot at civilians both in the foyer and inside the hall before setting fire to the concert hall.

In addition, close to 100 people are still missing, a Russian news website reported on Wednesday.

– Wow

The US calls the claims from Russia that Ukraine was involved in the attack outrageous, and believes it is obvious that IS is solely responsible.

Spokesman for the US National Security Council, John Kirby, compared Russia to fertilizer salesmen at a press conference on Thursday.

– My uncle used to say that the best fertilizer sellers often have samples in their mouths. Russian officials seem to be pretty good fertilizer salesmen, says Kirby.
