The statement from the EBU also states that Joost Klein will not participate in the rehearsal for the time being.

According to the Dutch newspaper AD, Klein should not have been allowed to carry out today’s test.

– We are investigating an incident that was reported to us about the Dutch artist. For the time being, he will not participate in the tests, says the EBU.

According to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Klein has stopped following Eurovision on Instagram. He has also deleted all his stories from the competition on the account.

Didn’t say anything

The Dutch artist was scheduled to perform with the song “Europapa” as number 5, just after the feature from Luxemburg. But just as the stage people were about to start rigging his number, they were told to go back.

Instead, Israel came on stage with the contribution “Hurricane”. It is Israel who will appear as the sixth participant, after the Netherlands, in the final tomorrow.

The EBU writes that they are investigating an incident linked to the Dutch artist.

Nothing was said during the incident, writes AD. Klein was both announced and participated in the flag parade.

Now it remains to be seen if the Netherlands will come to the jury trials at 9pm on Friday. There, the jury gives its points, which count for 50 percent of all votes.

A little after 5 p.m., NRK received an e-mail from ESC where they wrote that a planned press conference with Italy, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Sweden and France has now been cancelled. It must be because the artists wish to “focus on the samples”.

Criticized Israel during press conference

Joost Klein criticized Eden Golan during the press conference after the second semi-final last night.

When Golan is asked if she has thought about the fact that she can be a threat to other participants and the public just by being present, SVT’s Jovan Radomir, who hosts the press conference, replies that she does not need to answer that.

To that, Joost Klein breaks in and asks:

– Why not?!

Golan replies that she believes that everyone present is safe, because the EBU takes all the security precautions they have to take to make the song competition a safe and united place for everyone.

During the press conference, Eden Golan and Joost Klein were placed next to each other. Klein covered his head with the Dutch flag, and hid under it several times during the press conference.

It has been interpreted as a mark, as Joost Klein earlier this week also did not want to pose for a picture with the Israeli artist, writes Aftonbladet.

– All countries deserve to be free

During the press conference, Latvia also took a jab at Israel. The Latvian artist Dons said that the day was very special, and that he has never been prouder to be from Latvia.

– We are the only country that is shaped like a summer bird. A summer bird symbolizes hope and freedom. To be a summer bird you must be able to fly and be free. And all countries in the world deserve to be free, he said.
