Eirik Zakariassen has been many people’s favorite ever since he first entered the podium in TV 2’s popular “The Voice”. Tonight he sings in dialect when he performs “Shut up and dance” by Walk the moon.

– I’m looking forward to something so intense, and I have to admit that sleep is something we don’t get much of these days. The song and the competition are always with me, says Eirik Zakariassen to Dalane Tidende a few hours before it breaks loose in the studio at Fornebu.

Sings in Egersund

He will sing in dialect, and in the previous programs has received a lot of praise for his interpretations of songs. Now he goes for a lively song with a clear appeal.

– This song means a lot to me, and is about being respected for who you are. If you’re queer, white, colored, believe in something others don’t believe in, stand out from the crowd – that’s fine. Everyone should be allowed to be the way they want to be. In a way, that’s the message, you have to dare to be who you are, says Eirik.

He describes his time in the singing competition as an adventure. Now he is one of eight remaining participants.

– It has been extremely fun, and I must say that when I have come as far as I have, the goal is to win the whole thing. That is probably the goal of the others as well. I want to create a career for myself as an artist, and I feel that participating in this program has given me more flavor. This is without a doubt what I want and am passionate about.

– It is an honor

He has followed “The Voice” for many years. This season it became relevant. Owner prodigy Pål Rake has been involved in the past, and advised the production company to focus on Eirik from Okka town. It turned out to be a smart choice. Eigersunderen has received good feedback from all the mentors from program one.

– It is an honor to be part of this, and several say that this is perhaps the best season of all time. Not only the best in Norway, but perhaps in Europe and the whole world!

He describes “The Voice” gang as a community college gang.

– We live together in the same apartment hotel, eat breakfast and dinner together, go out together – we in general come up with a lot together. We are competitors, but we wish each other success.

On stage with 15 dancers

– How have you found your place in this circus, then?

– I didn’t think there would be room for such a “lunatic” like me here, but it has gone well. We respect each other, and also cheer each other on.

A dress rehearsal is on the program before Friday’s broadcast.

– I get a little extra time for preparations. I will have 15 dancers on stage with me, and I will probably need some extra time to learn all the movements and steps. I have to get all the “mooves” to fit perfectly.

PS! Moi resident Tor Vidar Rennestraum, originally from Kvinesdal, sings “Zombie” by The Cranberries in tonight’s broadcast.
