The short version

  • Betting companies predict a poor placement for Sweden’s Eurovision entry, “Unforgettable” by Norwegian Marcus & Martinus.
  • If the prediction of 15th place comes true, it will be Sweden’s weakest ESC result since 2010.
  • Norway’s entry, “Ulveham” by Gåte, has slightly better odds, and is predicted to place 13th in the final.
  • Croatia is the odds favorite with the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim” by Baby Lasagna.
  • The Eurovision final will be held in Malmö on Saturday, the semi-finals on Tuesday and Thursday.

Several Swedish media reported on Monday that the betting companies are predicting Sweden’s entry in Eurovision to have a slightly gold-edged position when the votes from next Saturday’s competition are counted.

As you know, the neighboring country is represented by the otherwise Norwegian Marcus & Martinus and their song “Unforgettable”.

On Eurovisionworld’s overview of a number of betting companies’ odds, “Unforgettable” is calculated at the time of writing to reach 15th place.

The worst the twins from Trofors can achieve is 26th place – because in the end there will be 26 finalists out of the 37 participating countries, and as host nation Sweden is automatically qualified for the final.

The semi-finals take place in Malmö on Tuesday and Thursday.

– The flop

On Thursday, Gåte will try to take Norway to the final with “Ulveham”. At the time of writing, it is tipped for 13th place in the final.

“The flop for Marcus and Martinus – according to the odds”, writes Expressen.

“It had been Sweden’s worst position since 2010 when Anna Bergendahl and the song “This Is My Life” did not make it to the final,” reports Aftonbladet.

VG has asked the duo’s management for a comment on the matter.

However, Marcus & Martinus is doing well as far as current metal is concerned.

According to Eurovision Charts, “Unforgettable” is the third most played ESC 2024 song on Spotify in recent weeks, where it is spun approximately one million times a week.

The Dutch contribution, Joost Klein’s “Europapa” is streamed the most, and approx. three times as much as “Unforgettable”. The betting companies are predicting this fifth place.

The obvious odds favorite is Croatia. The country presents the artist Baby Lasagna and the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”.

Eurovisionworld calculates Croatia’s winning chance at 26 percent.

The closest challenger is Switzerland, with 17 percent. The country’s artist Nemo has received Norwegian help for the song “The Code”.

Both Norway and Sweden are considered to have a one percent chance of winning.
