Nikola Jokic’s Honest Statement on Being Down 0-2 vs. Timberwolves

--

The defending champion Denver Nuggets are down 0-2 in their Western Conference Semi-Finals series vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. Offense has been hard to come by for Denver, as even their seemingly indefensible duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray has been held well below their usual production and efficiency.

On Denver’s breakdowns against this Minnesota defense, Nikola Jokic said after Game 2, “The whole series I think. If you guys watched the previous series against the Suns they were doing the same thing, they are really into the body. They played really good defense, they played really good defense the whole season. That’s why they were the number one defense. They are aggressive, they push you off the spot, all five are aggressive. They know what they are doing and that’s why it’s probably hard to score.”

The Nuggets are in a very tough spot, because not only did they drop the first two games of this series, but they did so at home. Now heading to Minnesota for two games while trailing 0-2, the Nuggets face the incredibly difficult task of tying this series up on the road.

While Denver has a lot of issues that have contributed to this 0-2 hole, their two best players playing well below their usual level is right at the top. Both Jokic and Murray will need to be better the next two games if Denver wants to send this series back to their building tied 2-2.
