Traffic, Traffic accident | Collective pupils and staff: – Empty silence

--

At 10 o’clock, an hour after the emergency services had moved out to Løken in Aurskog-Høland, the message came that the life of the 16-year-old motorbike driver could not be saved.

Just before half past twelve, principal Stein Pettersen, at Kjelle upper secondary school, gathered students and staff in the gymnasium.

– Our thoughts go out to the family and relatives. It is such events that one always fears will happen. It is deeply tragic what has happened, says Pettersen to Romerikes Blad.

Visit by crisis team

The municipality’s crisis team assisted during the meeting in the gymnasium.

– It is important that everyone who feels a need gets help. This came as a shock to us all. It is difficult to put into words. Our thoughts go out to those who are left behind, says the principal.

He says that there have been different reactions after it became known that it was a student at the school who had the accident.

– We are all different. Some show emotion right away, while others remain silent. Staff at the school have had conversations with students both individually and in groups, says Pettersen.

– It’s an unreal atmosphere. We talked about it after the meeting. It has never been so quiet in the gymnasium before. A kind of empty silence that lies over the whole area.
