The new era in Lexington is in full swing, and the newest Kentucky Basketball head coach, Mark Pope, has taken no days off since being hired.

Pope has brought in numerous key transfers to bolster the veteran side of the roster, as well as earned commitments from guys like Travis Perry and Collin Chandler.

The work has clearly not stopped yet, as Kentucky is reportedly in position to land North Florida transfer Chaz Lanier, per Matt Norlander of CBS Sports.

Lanier is a Nashville native and has received heavy interest from Tennessee as well.

Norlander does believe Tennessee is just as high as Kentucky currently.

“North Florida’s Chaz Lanier — who’s not a big-time name, but he’s being sought-after by big schools and it’s looking like that might be Kentucky. And if it’s not Kentucky, it’s Tennessee. And if it’s not Tennessee, it might be BYU,” Norlander stated on his podcast named ‘Eye on College Basketball.’

Lanier was an absolute star last season, being named to the ASUN First Team All-Conference team.

One of the current top transfers, Lanier averaged 19.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.9 steals. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

We will continue to keep an eye on Lanier’s commitment status. There’s no question he would be another excellent addition to Pope’s roster.
