“Unfortunately, the life of the driver could not be saved, and life-saving first aid has ended on the spot,” says Lisbeth Mjøsund at the police in Øst, after a motorbike accident on Wednesday morning on county road 115 near Løken in Aurskog/Høland.
It became clear to the police early on that it was a serious accident. The deceased was riding a light motorcycle.
An air ambulance was requested and crews from the fire service were first on the scene and performed CPR, according to the police.
– We can confirm that it is a younger person who drove out and died, operations manager in the East police district, Lisbeth Mjøsund, told Romerikes Blad.
The road is closed at the scene of the accident and a detour will be posted.
All fatal accidents in Norway are investigated by a national accident analysis group, and it is unknown when the road will reopen.
Several people have lost their lives in motorcycle accidents or been seriously injured so far in May:
- A teenage boy died in an accident with a light motorcycle in Indre Østfold on Saturday afternoon, 4 May.
- A car and a motorbike collided in Bjørnafjorden in Midthordland on Saturday afternoon 4 May. The driver of the motorcycle died despite attempts at cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- On 1 May, a man in his 50s was flown to Ullevål hospital from Vestby with serious injuries, and at Notodden two motorbikes were involved in what according to the police appears to be a serious accident on 1 May.
- On 2 May, a motorcycle and a possible lorry were involved in a traffic accident in Bergen. The accident appears serious, the police reported.
According to Trygg Trafikk, 21 motorbike drivers died on Norwegian roads in 2022 and the same number last year.
