For Canucks fans and ESPN — the worldwide leader in sports — there is only one. And his name is Ryan S. Clark.

As they do every series, ESPN polled its raft of hockey people asking who will win the Edmonton Oilers versus Vancouver Canucks Pacific Division final.

If you’re a Canucks fan, brace yourself. The list is grim. Of the 24 experts surveyed by ESPN, 23 picked the Oilers.

Only Clark, one of ESPN’s lead NHL writers, picked the Canucks to win. Not even hometown commentator Ray Ferraro, whose main job is as ESPN’s lead analyst but who also moonlights on Sportsnet’s regional Canucks broadcasts, chose the Oilers.

Clark does know the Canucks well, having covered both the Seattle Kraken and Colorado Avalanche as a local reporter before making the jump to national columnist.

It’s never easy to be on a lonely island like Clark is, so credit to him. And when he proves to be right about this series, no doubt he’ll take up a collection from his colleagues for proving them all wrong.
